Collaboration with Adam Howard for Digital Sizzle 6 in the Whitechapel Gallery 2012
We created a JavaScript hashing function that derives a number from the subject line of a spam message. The number generated is then used to retrieve a corresponding, but seemingly random photograph from Instagram.
The digital and ephemeral qualities of the email spam were also transformed by printing limited edition flyers which were forced upon visitors in the Whitechapel foyer and throughout the space.
The Instaspam site is still live and can be used here.
